Salt Lake City open: The new light rail system, TRAX, started operation as planned on Saturday 4 December with free rides and festive events at stops along the line. Large numbers turned up for the occasion with estimates of crowds of between 30,000 - 50,000. As there is no service on Sundays normal revenue service will begin first thing on Monday 6 December.
