Denver votes for Light Rail extension: By over 60%, Denvers voters in the 2 November referendum approved the USD 1700 million bond issue for widening Interstate highway I-25 and also for a USD 457 million bond issue which will permit a 19.6 mile (34 km) light rail expansion along the same corridor, including a 4 mile (7 km) branch along I-225. The line would run along I-25 south from Broadway in Denver to Lincoln Avenue, with a spur along I-225 from I-25 to Parker Road. Construction is not expected to start until 2001 woth completion expected in 2007/8.

Denver is currently building an 8.7 mile (15 km) light-rail line along Santa Fe Drive to Littleton. The construction started in January 1997, and it is expected to be completed in July 2000.
