Bombardier wins German tramway order: Bombardier Transportation has won an order for 88 trams and trailers for the German cities of Leipzig, Schwerin and Rostock. Total value of these contracts is approximately CAD 80 million (100 million DM).Thirty-eight of the new low-floor trams will go to Leipzig with delivery to start in August 2000. Schwerin is to have 28 vehicles, with the option of a further 10. Delivery is expected mid 2001 while the remaining 22 cars will go to Rostock in 2002. Production of these vehicles, which it is believed will be similar to those already ordered for the German cities of Essen and Kassel as well as Krakow in Poland, will take place at the Bombardier plant in Bautzen, Germany.
