77-car order for Siemens from Salt Lake City : The UTA light rail system in Salt Lake City, Utah, has given Siemens its largest-ever order for their Sacramento factory. 77 new S70 partly low-floor trams will join the 69 Siemens high-floor cars already operating in the city in a contract worth USD 277 M. There is also an option for 180 more cars, though it seems likely that within the options are a joint order on behalf of Denver.

Salt Lake City is building four new light rail lines and broke ground for the first on 16 May.

In another piece of good news for Siemens, Charlotte has extended its 16-car S70 order to 20, the extras for delivery in 2009/10.
