55 new Siemens LRVs for Denver : RTD Denver has signed a USD 184 million contract with Siemens for 55 new LRVs that will be used on the ambitious FasTracks light rail expansion programme (USD 6.1 billion to be spent on 195 km of LRT creating six new lines by 2016).

Denver is currently taking delivery of 34 Siemens LRVs for a current project, but the batch just ordered will arrive in 2009-12. They are being purchased sooner than needed in order to benefit from current prices. Siemens builds cars for the US market at its Sacramento, California, plant.
