Bergen signs Variotram order : On 29 January the Norwegian city of Bergen signed the EUR 35 M order with Stadler-Pankow for 12 Variotrams, to be delivered from late 2009, in readiness for the opening of the first 9.8-km phase of the tramway in May 2010. The contract includes eight years' maintenance.

The double-ended Bergen Variotram will be 32.18 m long with a floor height of 350 mm throughout and seats for 84 passengers, plus 151 standing at 4 per sq m. Top speed will be 70 km/h. There is an option for a further 20 trams.
