Trams replace buses in Adelaide : Adelaide, South Australia, opened the AUD 21 million city centre extension of its Glenelg-Adelaide tramway on 14 October, taking trams 1.2 km along King William Street from Victoria Sq in the south to North Terrace, with the new terminus at the west campus of the University of South Australia, an extension beyond the originally intended terminus adjacent to Adelaide rail station. The tram service is free between North Terrace, Victoria Sq and South Terrace, replacing the BeeLine free bus service that has been operated for a number of years from North terrace to Victoria Square. Work on the extension started in February 2007. The Glenelg tramway is operated by 11 Bombardier Flexity low-floor trams delivered in 2005-7.
