Edinburgh tram builder selected : The Spanish tram builder CAF has been named as preferred bidder by Transport Initiatives Edinburgh for the contract to supply and maintain 24-27 low-floor trams for the new Edinburgh system, with delivery starting in 2009. CAF already has British rolling-stock contracts, such as the Heathrow Express trains, and in Spain has recently built trams for Bilbao, Sevilla and Velez Malaga.
