Stagecoach preferred bidder for Manchester

Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE) have announced Stagecoach Group Plc as their preferred bidder to take over the operation and maintenance of the Metrolink light rail network,
GMPTE will now begin the final negotiations for the contract which will run for the next decade. Stagecoach is expected to take over within the next three months. It will also be responsible for the maintenance of the network, including the track and stops, for at least the next 7 years.
The contract will also include responsibility for running services on the new Metrolink lines to Oldham and Rochdale, Droylsden in Tameside and Chorlton in South Manchester.
