DfT Draft Guidance For Light Rail Systems consultation
:
The Department for Transport has launched its Draft Guidance for Local Authority Promoters Considering a Light Rail Scheme. It is intended to provide practical help to local authority promoters and covers the strategic and detailed issues a promoter will need to consider if considering a light rail, tram or other rapid transit project.
Although the document includes no new proposals it is intended to pull together guidance into one place. It is also intended to be regularly updated to take into account the outputs of work from UKTram, and thus it will only be published on the web initially.
Consultation is due to end on the 9th March 2007. The document can be found on the
Department for Transport website. Note that this link was not working at the time of writing.
The LRTA's thoughts on this document along with any update to the link will be posted here in the next few weeks.
