Alstom to build and equip Orléans second tramway
:
The French city of Orléans has awarded the EUR 93 million contract for its second tramway line to Alstom, including 21 Citadis 302 2.4m width low-floor trams. The 11.8-km west-east line will link St-Jean-de-Braye and La Chapelle St-Mesmin via the city centre, where 980 m of line will be equipped with the APS surface current collection system pioneered in Bordeaux. A new depot will be constructed for Line 2 but heavy maintenance will be carried out at the existing Line 1 engineering facility. It is hoped that public service will start in 2011.
