Antwerp route changes
:
The new line 5, Linkeroever - Deurne (Wim Saarenspl.) opened and tram lines 12 and 24 were reorganised on Saturday 4 March after a rather low-key local publicity campaign This follows just after De Lijn's tariff changes that had come into effect on 1 March (notably introducing a differential between on-board and prepayment fares). In addition line 12 is temporarily cut back to the loop just short of Zuidstation until the new terminal loop for lines 8 and 12 beside the city's new law courts (Gerichthof, on the site of the long-demolished Antwerp South terminal rail station) is ready.
A map of the routes as restructured can be found on the
DeLijn website (pdf file).
It should be noted that although the line 12 terminus is named Sportpaleis and it is close to the Sport metro station on line 3 and there is a stop Sportpaleis on line 5 the best interchange between lines 3, 5 and 12 is between Schijnpoortweg on line 12 and Schijnpoort metro station on lines 3 & 5 (100m)
