Sydney Campaign:
Green groups are calling for the State Government to extend the tram system in the city claiming that air pollution in Sydney would drop dramatically if the city was serviced by a light rail system each day, rather than thousands of buses. With demand for travel within the city centre expected to rise by 32 per cent over the next 15 years it is believed that light rail is the best way to tackle the city's congestion problems and could cut the number of buses a day in the city by more than a third by 2021 according to a report presented to the council last year
