Melbourne tram extension:
The Transport Minister Peter Batchelor of VICTORIAN launched a new tram extension as part of the Government's $42 million public transport improvement scheme.
The Knox Transit Link is a new integrated bus and tram service extending to Knox City in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, including a new interchange and raised tram platforms with shelters. The works include the extension of the route 75 tram service by about 3km along the Burwood Highway median - from the current terminus at Blackburn Road to Vermont South, near Hartland Road. where there is a new interchange opposite the Vermont South shopping centre where buses will meet trams so passengers can continue their journey onto Knox City. The project was completed on time and on budget. It started normal service on Monday 25th July.
