Bombardier order for Rotterdam:
Bombardier Transportation has been awarded a contract from RET, the public transport operator of Rotterdam in The Netherlands, to design and build 21 Bombardier FLEXITY(TM) Swift light rail vehicles for approximately 83 million EUR. The order includes an option for up to 21 additional vehicles which are due to be delivered between January and November 2008.
Manufacturing will take place at Bombardier’s Bautzen plant in Germany, while electrical equipment will be supplied from their Mannheim factory and the bogies from their Siegen facility.
The vehicles are intended to operate on the new RandstadRail system between Rotterdam, The Hague and Zoetermeer.
