Adelaide tram line to be extended through city centre:
The State Government of South Australia, which last year announced the AUD 72.5 million modernisation of the Adelaide-Glenelg tramway line, including new low-floor trams, has now decided that the line will be extended from its current terminus in Victoria Square on the south side of the central business district to run along King William Street to a new terminus in North Terrace by the railway station. The 1.2-km extension will be built in 2006-7 and is estimated to cost AUD 21 million.
