Mannheim order: Bombardier Transportation has received an order from two transportation companies in the Rhein-Neckar region, MVV OEG AG and MVV Verkehr AG, for 16 low-floor trams, for an approximate value of 34 million Euros. The order comprises:

For MVV-Verkehr AG:

  • 3x 30,5 metre long Bidirectional Vehicles
  • 3x 42,8 metre long Vehicles of the existing MVV-type (Nos. 701 - 710)

    For the MVV OEG AG:

  • 10x 30,5 metre long Bidirectional Vehicles (similar to its existing 10 Vehicles and the three to MVV-Verkehr AG).

    This contract is an option to a former order placed by 4 transportation operators in the Rhein-Neckar region in 1999, for a total of 36 trams. Delivery of the vehicles is scheduled to take place between September 2006 and May 2007. The contract includes another option for further nine vehicles.

    The 30 and 42 metre-long trams will be manufactured at Bombardier’s Bautzen plant in Germany, the site in Mannheim will supply the electrical equipment and Bombardier’s Siegen facility will produce the bogies.
