Nice orders Citadis from Alstom: CANCA (the administrative body for local councils in Nice-Côte d'Azur) has ordered 20 Citadis low-floor trams for the new 9-km line due to open in Nice in 2007. There is an option for a further 8, and another option to extend all the trams with additional body sections. Delivery of the news trams will start in 2006. The 33-m cars will carry 216 passengers (54 seated) and will be equipped with Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries for operation on some sections of the line that will not be equipped with overhead wire.
