Another Nice success for Alstom: The city of Nice has decided to order 20 double-ended, five-section, Alstom Citadis low-floor trams for its new tramway in a contract valued at EUR 57 million. Delivery is scheduled for February-October 2006, with the 8.7-km line 1 opening in December 2006. Two 450-m sections of line in the central area will not be equipped with overhead wire. Each Citadis will carry a Nickel-Hydride battery pack generating 39.5 kWh at 540 V dc to carry it through the unwired sections.
