Busy summer on US west coast:
This summer will see the inauguration of three tramway/light rail
operations. In Los Angeles, California, the light rail Gold Line linking
Union Station in the city centre with Pasadena in the north-east suburbs
will be inaugurated on 25 July, with regular service from 26 July.
Meanwhile in the port of San Pedro south of Los Angeles the waterfront
heritage tramway, which recreates some of the atmosphere of the former
Pacific Electric interurban operation, should open for passenger
operation on 19 July. In Washington State, the short tramway shuttle
line in Tacoma, south of Seattle, is due to be opened on 22 August.
