AnsaldoBreda LRVs for LA:
Los Angeles' RTA has ordered 50 six-axle articulated LRVs from
AnsaldoBreda for its Pasadena Gold Line and Eastside extension projects.
After a competitive bidding process the USD 158.74 million contract was
awarded to the Italian company representing a price of USD 3 million/car
plus spare parts. There are options for two further tranches of 50 cars
at more favourable prices. Second-highest bidder was Kinki Sharyo of
Japan; Bombardier decided not to bid, and Siemens' bid was deemed
non-compliant.
