More extensions in Dallas:
On 18 November 2002, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) extended its Blue Line line from LBJ/Skillman to Downtown Garland, which is a suburb to the northeast of Dallas, via a new stop at Forest/Jupiter Station. This was followed by an Extension of the Red Line Northwards from Galatyn Park to Parker Road via Bush Turnpike and Downtown Plano on the 9th December.
This latter opening, six months ahead of schedule, brings the DART Rail System to 44 miles and 34 stations, making this one of the largest rail expansion projects in North America and doubling DART's six-year-old, 20-mile light rail system.
Note: A map of the extensions can be found on the LightRail_Now website and further information on the Dallas system at the DART website.
