Dallas TX extension opens:
The opening of the LBJ/Skillman station on Monday marked the first time Dallas Area Rapid Transit has reached beyond Dallas’ major highway loop to transport suburban commuters to the city. This is DART’s 23rd light rail station and it extends the Blue Line 3.5 miles from White Rock Station in Northeast Dallas. A 10 minute service will be provided and it is estimated that between 1,500 and 2,000 passengers a day will use the new station.
Seven more stations are expected to open in July with further extensions due to open by the end of the year which will bring the system length up to 44 miles.
