Denver extension to open:
RTD (Regional Transportation District) will have a grand opening of the 'C' line - the 1.8 mile spur serving the Central Platte Valley with two days of festivities starting on Friday 5 April. The original line will now be called the 'D' line. With the opening of the 'C' line Denver becomes the first US metropolitan area with all of its major sports venues accessible by light rail. *
The line with 4 stops cost some USD47 million and was financed by a public-private partnership
with funds coming from RTD, the Denver Regional Council of Governments, the city and county of Denver and a number of local firms and organizations.
The line runs from Union Station with stops at Invesco Field, the Pepsi Center, Six Flags/Elitch Gardens and the Auraria Campus and joins the 'D' line just north of the 10th and Osage station.
