New General Manager for San Diego, CA:
The San Diego Trolley Board has named Peter
Tereschuck its new interim President & General Manager. Tereschuck,
San Diego Trolley Inc.’s (SDTI) current Vice President of Operations,
will assume his new duties on Monday, December 10th for a minimum
term of six months to a year.
The opening was created by SDTI’s first and only President and
General Manager, Langley Powell, moving to his new position as
interim President and General Manager of San Diego Transit
Corporation, the Metropolitan Transit System’s largest bus operator.
Powell’s leave of absence from San Diego Trolley was also approved
today by the Board.
Tereschuck has had a distinguished 38 year career in rail transit
beginning in his home state of New York, where he worked in the Signal
and Operations Division of PATH (NY/NJ). He also worked for PATCO
in New Jersey/Philadelphia as an operations supervisor and in Miami
Metro-Dade County where he was involved with the final design and
initial construction of their rail transit system.
Tereschuck joined San Diego Trolley in 1980 and helped start up its
Light Rail Transit operation. Since then, he has been instrumental in
opening up seven service extensions. As Vice President of Operations,
he is responsible for all operations, as well as vehicle & wayside
maintenance of the San Diego Trolley.
Tereschuck is well known in the transit industry and active in national
and state transportation organizations. He is past chairman of the
California Rail Operations & Regulatory Committee of the California
Transit Association, Chairman of the American Passenger
Transportation Association’s (APTA) Operating Standards &
Procedures Committee. He is also chair of the APTA Control Centre
Technical Forum and a member of APTA’s Light Rail and Rail Transit
Committees.
