Alstom wins Firenze contract:
On 21 June 2001 it was announced in Florence that the remaining
contracts for the new Scandicci tramway had been awarded to an
Alstom-led consortium for ITL 221 000 million. The 7.5-km line will be
worked by 17 low-floor Alstom-Fiat Cityway trams from a depot at
Vingone. The rolling stock element of the contract is worth ITL 60 000
million and the depot will cost ITL 18 000 million. A new bridge over
the river Arno is costed at ITL 25 000 million. The new tramway should
open in 2004.
