From Dallas to LA:
Roger Snoble, currently president/executive director of Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), has been recruited to become the CEO of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). He will takeover from the retiring MTA CEO Julian Burke in September. Burke, now 73, was brought in in 1997 to turn round the troubled transit agency. His biggest accomplishment is quoted as bringing financial stability and sound management practices to the MTA.
Roger Snoble led the development of DART's successful and fast-growing multi-modal transit system. During his period of office since 1994, the agency opened the first light rail and commuter rail systems in the Southwest, along with a network of high occupancy vehicle lanes.
Previously he was president and general manager of San Diego Transit Corporation and in 1998 was named transit manager of the year by the American Public Transit Association.
