Nottingham progress:
While construction of line 1 continues with the removal of services to clear the way for track laying Nottingham is looking to the future by studying options for future extensions. Possible extensions are to Clifton and West Bridgford in the South and Beeston in the West. There are several different options for ways of serving these destinations and there has been a suggestion of a further extension from Beeston to serve a 1,000-space park and ride site on the A52. This would run from Beeston town centre west via north Chilwell to Bardill's Island although as yet there is no detailed routing as to how the P&R site would be reached. Consultants have been engaged to carry out a detailed feasibility study into the proposed extension, which is reported to be some 4km with an estimated cost of GBP6 million.
