URBAN TRANSIT NEWS

Nancy TVR guided trolleybus withdrawn: The new guided trolleybus line in Nancy, France, opened for public service on 11 February, has been closed pending the inquiry of a technical commission set up to examine the cause of accidents which took place on 6 and 10 March. The line uses the Bombardier centre-rail guidance system (GLT), and the accidents occurred where vehicles switch from guided to unguided mode. In each case vehicles appear to have been thrown into collision with adjacent overhead masts. Between the two accidents the drivers held a one-day strike, alleging the new technology was unsafe.
