Lyon Tramway open: The two lines of the Lyon Tramway went into service on the 2nd January 2001. The lines are numbered T1 and T2.
  • Line T1 : Perrache - IUT Feyssine : 8,2 km - 19 stops. It offers a connection of the station of Perrache to the large administrative centres (Prefecture, Urban Community, Law courts), and the commercial centre. It also connects the two university sites of the quay Claude Bernard and of Doua.
  • Line T2 : Perrache - Porte des Alpes : 10,1 km - 20 stops. It offers a direct connection between the downtown area of Lyon and the heart of Bron. In a second phase, this line will be extended towards the downtown area of Saint-Priest in 2003.
The vehicles are Citadis TGA 302 from Alstom and can carry 201 passengers (including 56 seated). They are 32.40 m length, 2.40 m broad and 3.30 m high.

The tram operates from 5am till midnight, it offers approximately 6 min of frequency in the peak hours, serves 4 communes and 5 districts of Lyon, and is connected to 7 subway stations and 40 bus lines.
