Montpellier Opens: The first line of the Montpellier tramway was officially inaugerated in the evenning of Friday 30th June 2000 at the Place de la Comédie. The inauguration was accompanied by street celebrations. From Saturday the system will be in operation free of charge until end of service on Sunday. Normal operation will begin at 5am Monday. Operation will be from 5am till 1am with a frequency of every 4 minutes at peak periods.
