Group TramMet consortium chosen for Barcelona:
ATM the local transportation authority for the Barcelona area has announced that it has chosed the Group TramMet consortium for its 16.8 km light rail project on a Finance, Design, Build, Operate and Maintain (FDBOM) basis.
Members of the consortium are:
- ALSTOM - responsible for
- The overall technical
management of the project
- the supply of the electromechanical system
- up to 20 CITADIS light rail vehicles
- the
signalling and communication systems
- the traction power supply
system
- investing equity in the concession company
- FCC Construccion, Comsa, Acciona and Necso of Spain
- civil works
- track and overhead
- CGEA Transport (France) and Sarbus, Soler y Sauret and CGT (Spain)
- Bansabadell And Societe Generale
The 16.8 km line will have 35 stops and is estimated to carry 19 million passengers per year and will cost 218 million euros is expected to open in 2003. The route will be in the form of a Y with a common section from Francesc Macia in Barcelona heading north-west to branches to Sant Joan Despit and Sant Feliu de Llobregat. There will also be a connection between the two outer termini. The CITADIS vehicles, which will be built at the ALSTOM factory in Barcelona, will have air conditioning, full low floor and carry upto 215 passengers.
